Jeff’s GPP Core- Week 9
Last week was a great example of why it is important to identify games that have shootout potential. Taking it a step further, it is important to try and identify possible shootouts that are not the obvious ones for the week. Last week the Bills vs Ravens had the highest game total of any game on the main slate. It turned out disappointing with Lamar getting hurt and the game total ending at 46 with no output from the Ravens at all. In my article last week, I mentioned the fact that I would not be stacking that game a whole lot, because the salaries for most of the participants where among the highest on the slate. Owning multiple guys from that game like Josh Allen, James Cook, Lamar, Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, DJ Moore, etc would not allow you much to work with beyond that. In my article I also talked about the Raider vs Jets game which I thought might be a sneaky shootout possibility. One positive to stacking that game was that it was on the contrarian side. The other positive to stacking that game was that the salaries for most guys in that game were pretty cheap. Sure, Brock Bowers had a high price tag, but paired with Kirk Cousins, and running it back with Braelon Allen would not bankrupt you. The Game total ended up being 71 and the ownership for guys from that game was not exorbitant. I would encourage you to try and pick a couple games each week that are under the radar (like the Raiders/Jets game last week) and build a game stack. If it hits, it will give you a shot at some big money in the large field GPPs.
