Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Main Slate Week 1

For those of you who are familiar with my columns from last year and/or my golf columns, you know that I am a GPP player through and through. I like the strategy and game theory involved and trying to identify opportunities and contrarian angles. As a player I play in all different contests at all different buy-ins and depending upon the size of the contest, I have different size player cores. For 150 lineup builds I will obviously mix in more tertiary players than I would for a 3-max entry contest or even a 20-max contest. In this column I am happy to share with you my favorite plays for the week, though it won’t include every single player I will be playing in 150 lineup builds.  Unlike so many other articles throughout the industry, I will share with you players from all different price ranges. I never understood “experts” writing DFS columns and only including the highest priced guys. “I like Mahomes, CMAC, Barkley, Michael Thomas, Adams, and Kelce this week”, wow thanks that was really helpful.

Some of the players that I recommend will be popular throughout GPPs and that is ok, because I will also try and identify other players who will be more contrarian. Remember, we do not have to be contrarian with every single player on our roster. To win large field GPPs, you almost always have to have some sort of stack, whether it be a QB/WR stack or a full blown game stack. For a full-slate, I would not normally recommend more than four players from a particular game on one roster.

Injuries play a major part in football and DFS.  Whether a player plays or doesn’t play affects not only him, but his back up, other positions on his own team, and possibly the opposing defense.  I want to be able to get this column out to you as early as possible (usually Thursday night or Friday).  Things often change and I will do my best to update the column, but sometimes that is hard when the information isn’t available until 11:30 eastern time on Sunday morning. Be sure you are tuned in Sunday morning before lineup lock, it is extremely important.

Best of luck this week my friends!
