JohnnyV NFL Picks – Week 13

I hope that you all enjoyed a great Thanksgiving with friends and family. For everyone that got in on the action for the Thanksgiving pick, it was a little more stressful than anticipated, but the Bears were able to pull through for us with a late game TD to win by 4 points, which was a cover for us at -3 as we were able to get it out ahead of the news that Jeff Driskel would miss the game with a hamstring injury and instead be replaced by undrafted, rookie free agent, David Blough. Once that news hit, the spread climbed immediately, getting as high as 6.5 points on some sites before kickoff.

For a while, it looked like we had stepped right into a bear trap. I was feeling great when the Bears went right down the field and scored a TD to put the pressure on the rookie QB, but the Bears followed it up by going to sleep in the secondary and getting torched on 3rd and long for a 75 yard TD which took the air out of me as I knew it would be a dogfight from that point going forward. It would have been a nightmare to lose another bet against an undrafted QB making his NFL debut so I was relieved that the crisis was averted.
