I’ll make this short and sweet this week. This season has not gone the way that I had hoped it would. Unfortunately, this has been one of the worst slides of my career and as such, I will not be back next season. For those of you that have been following me for several years, it was a small bump in the road, but I know that for others who joined me with Football Insider Edge, it was obviously a letdown. As such, I will be taking the offseason to reevaluate how I want to go about sharing my picks in the future. I’ll certainly still be out there on Twitter and for those of you who have shown encouragement, I cannot thank you enough for your support.

This week, we have what should be a really entertaining Super Bowl coming our way. We have the most exciting offense in the league and former MVP from KC going up against a dominant defensive unit in the 49ers that rag dolled the Vikings and Packers on the way to two easy victories and a Super Bowl berth.

Both teams are going to have their moments today, but I think this game is going to come down to one match up in particular. The 49ers rushing attack has been nothing short of sensational in the playoffs as Jimmy G has barely had to throw the ball in two wins to get the job done. He is 17/27 for 208 yards, with 1 TD and 1 INT….in two full NFL games. It is hard to justify throwing the ball when your team is running it the way the Niners did the last two weeks as they have rolled up 471 yards in the last two weeks.

This week, the biggest mismatch among the two teams is the 49ers rushing attack against the KC rush defense. The Chiefs have struggled all year against the run and are ranked 29th in the league. The key to this game will be for the 49ers to control the clock, keep Patrick Mahomes off the field and keep this game from turning into a shootout. The 49ers 2nd ranked pass defense and dominating pass rush is good enough to cause problems for Mahomes. Sure, the Chiefs rolled up points against two teams that ranked poorly against the pass it their two playoff games, but they have not played a defense like SF in some time.
