Sunday Night Showdown Slate- Browns @ Giants

Browns (-6.5) @ Giants, Game Total = 44

DVOA

Browns against the run #21
Browns against the pass #24
Giants against the run #14
Giants against the pass #18

The Browns running game is clicking on all cylinders and Nick Chubb has been amazing since his return from injury.  Over those five games he has had at least 80 yards rushing in each game and found the endzone five times.  The Giants have allowed the 7th most DK points to opposing runningbacks and I see the Browns putting even more of an emphasis on the running game in this one than usual.

Kareem Hunt was a monster last week helping win those featuring him in the Captain spot a ton of money.  He mixes in the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, plus he has been getting goaline looks as well.  I like the $4,200 discount from Chubb and will have a ton of exposure to Hunt.

Last weeks Browns/Ravens game turned into a complete shootout and for the second straight week Baker Mayfield put up 30+ DK points.  With the game total being as low as it is and the game being played in cold New York, I would be shocked if Mayfield went completely off again.  The Giants have actually allowed the 5th least DK points to opposing quarterbacks, which surprised me a bit. Although the loss of James Bradberry is monstrous for the Giants secondary.   This loss will impact the receivers for the Browns, namely Rashard Higgins who would have likely seen his primary coverage.  Darnay Holmes, Isaac Yiadom, and Xavier McKinney at slot corner are all sub-par cornerbacks, so Landry, Higgins, and as a lower priced sleeper Peoples-Jones are all in play for me.  Just a note on Peoples-Jones, over his last two games he has become more involved in this offense and has gained more of Baker’s trust.  Two weeks ago he went for 2/92/1 on 3 targets and last week 3/74 on 5 targets.  With Bradberry out the Giants perimeter corner play is way down and this might be an excellent value play.

Overall I will be rolling with a 5-1 and 4-2 Browns -to- Giants rosters.  The Giants offense has been abysmal averaging only 18.3 points per game.  It is unclear if it will be Daniel Jones or Colt McCoy as of right now and if it is McCoy then the Giants offense does not stand much of a chance at all.  Probably take your chances with one of their receivers and hope they catch 4-5 passes and can get into the box.  If Jones starts then my pick would be Slayton, whereas if it is McCoy then I would lean toward Shepard.  I will talk about Engram in a second, but if he doesn’t play then I would go with one of these two guys.

It is never a good sign when a player is added to the injury report late in the week, which is exactly what happened with Evan Engram.  With no injury, he looks like an excellent play against the Browns who have struggled badly at defending the tight end position allowing the 3rd most DK points.  Engram has been incredibly inconsistent, but capable of an outburst.  Pay attention to whether Engram plays or not and if he does, I will be using him.  If he does not play, then enter in Kaden Smith, who is also listed as questionable.  Smith has done next to nothing this season, but if Engram is out and he plays then he could pay off his miniscule $400 price.

Wayne Gallman is the lead back for the Giants getting 15 touches last week, but the efficiency has been lacking as he only racked up 57 yards rushing and 16 through the air.  I really do not like Gallman all that much in what could be a negative game script for the Giants for most of this game.

Must Haves:

Chubb $11,200

Mayfield $10,600

Higgins $8,200

Hunt $7,000

Favorite players for the price:

Engram $5,000 (if he is healthy)

Low Dollar Options:

Peoples-Jones $4,600

Bryant $3,200
