The wildcard round proved to be my best fantasy week of the season. It felt easy going in, I never fiddled with either of my lineups, and I cashed by a mile in all of my double up contests for the week. I know some folks struggled, but I think I know why I had an edge. I follow the Vikings more closely than any other team in the league so while there were some owners that still were not quite sure what to make of the Giants, I knew exactly what to expect from the Vikings and had no qualms about loading up against them on a six game slate. While I did not use Barkley over on DK, I did use him on FD where I rostered four Giants rather than the three I had on DK.

Wildcare Lineup

Daniel Jones 5600 30.84
Christian McCaffrey 8900 24.6
Travis Etienne 6300 16.1
Justin Jefferson 8400 11.62
Isaiah Hodgins 4100 27.5
Richie James 3900 7.1
TJ Hockenson 5100 25.9
Zay Jones 4300 21.4
Bills 3300 8
49900 173.06

I think almost every play here was automatic for me. Jones was the obvious value at QB. We saw what he did to the Vikings defense just a couple of weeks prior to the playoffs and that the Vikes have made many a mediocre QB look like an All-Pro. The Bills defense versus a 3rd string QB was a no brainer, even if they did not put up a ceiling performance. JJ was a bust, but I could not risk fading him after he had torn through the Giants at home recently and I knew he would be very heavily owned. TJ Hockenson had shredded the Giants for a career day in Week 16 which was no surprise given that the Giants have been near the bottom of the league all season against the TE. I figured the Giants would do everything to try to contain JJ so using TJ at that price was easy.

I was always using CMC in my lineup. He’s just too talented and has been the most consistent fantasy RB in the league since joining the 49ers. He did see his usage slip a bit now that the offense is fully healthy again, but still posted 24.6 DK points which is just above a floor effort for him. At WR, once I rostered JJ, I had to find value the rest of the way. Hodgins and James were my stack for a total salary of just $8k. On a small slate, I have zero issues with this type of maneuver. You are looking for 24 DK points and we got 34.6 so I would say that the move worked out perfect, even with James struggling a bit. Zay Jones was also super cheap in a great game environment with a high total against a team he had already torched this season. The script worked out beautifully as the Chargers rolled early forcing the Jags into a game where they had to throw often in the second half to keep up. The last play was Travis Etienne. The RB position overall was a little slim in terms of value, but the Chargers were near the bottom of the league against the run so I liked Etienne and he delivered late with a long carry to get himself up over 100 yards. It was a great week where my analysis was dead on and I made some nice money across the board!
