The Daily Spin – NFL Cash Game Edition – Wild Card Round

Welcome to wildcard week! I love the new format for the NFL playoffs with six games to keep us busy, though I hate the Monday night game as it will put one unlucky team at a big disadvantage unnecessarily next weekend. I am not a big fan of the way that DraftKings rolled out its contests this week. They obviously want us to jump into the slate on Saturday and then again on Sunday rather than playing the full six game weekend slate. I am not going to give into temptation here. We have a much better advantage in playing the full slate rather than 2 or 3 games. Perhaps I will jump into a Showdown or two as well, but it just makes more sense to me to have us working from a bigger field of players. I would much rather build a lineup that does not overlap in 6 or 7 spots and feel like I am really only cheering one a couple of unique plays each day.

As far as your bankroll is concerned, I would not get too crazy here. I would play about 50% of your normal cash game bankroll this week. With the playoffs here, ownership will be much higher for all players which means that one slate busting performance could make or break your week. It is a lot like the Tournament of Champions for the PGA Tour where more than half the field owned Cam Smith last week so that if you did not have him on your team, you were dead in cash games. The same thing can happen in the NFL during the playoffs or on short slates like what we see on Thanksgiving.
